Climate Friendly Conferencing

You don't need to fuel an airplane for a video conference. This means that video conferencing helps protect the environment. By using the right solutions by T-Systems, T-Mobile has reduced its CO₂ emissions by around 7,000 tons since 2004.

Deciding not to take the car or airplane – in times of a changing climate, this is an option that can also have an impact on a company's value. As investment banks take environmental assessments into consideration in their ratings, a company's environmental approach also has a significant effect on its image. Since 2004, T-Mobile has been consistently placing its focus on sustainability and has been using the T-Systems solution Desktop Video Conferences (DVTC). This solution enables employees to conduct their meetings virtually via video conferencing. The user-friendly solution is easy to implement and provides transmissions that are true to real-time speech. Up to 15 participants can join in via their PC, notebook, PDA or cell phone. All that they need aside from the software is a webcam and a headset.

Reducing travel expenses

Through March 2007, 40,260 video conferences had already taken place at T-Mobile using DVTC. This has led to a reduction of CO₂ emissions by around 7,000 tons. It has also led to a significant reduction in travel expenses: At T-Mobile the use of DVTC paid for itself within just four months. T-Systems and T-Mobile will be presenting the solution on June 5th and 6th within the scope of an event host.
